Koi Ponds

For some years now, we have witnessed the benefits of keeping Koi in an ecosystem environment as opposed to a sterile pool. As such, we tend to refer to Koi kept this way as ‘free range’. Seeing your fish mimicking their natural environment, rummaging through the gravel floor looking for food and swimming below lily pads is so much more interesting in our opinion. What about water quality I hear you ask? My personal pond is an ecosystem Koi Pond and the truth is that its so long since I had an abnormal reading whilst testing that it’s very rare I test now. Another key attribute is the aesthetics. It is widely known in the world of ecosystem ponds, that during ‘our’ pond tours, everybody spends their time looking in wonder at the ponds, but compare that to a ‘traditional Koi pond’ tour, and you’ll likely find everyone in the shed looking at filter systems!

For the serious Koi keeper there are some extra considerations which need to be applied.

We’ll start with the depth, which we increase to 3ft as standard.

Due to the extra filtration requirements when keeping Koi, our Koi ponds are built with the addition of a ‘wetland filter’. More information for which, can be found on our ‘Filtration’ page.

Though the ‘Skimmer 1000’ will suffice in most cases, an ‘Intake Bay’ is always an option here.

Prices from £24,950 for a 5m x 2.5m Koi pond. Featuring 3ft depth, Fish Cave, Wetland filter system and automatic bacterial dosing system.

Price quoted inclusive of VAT.
